Walter De Vecchi played for AC Milan in the 1974/75 season and from 1978 to 1981, for a total of 112 appearances for the AC Milan of Ballon d’Or winner Gianni Rivera, with whom he won the 1979 Serie A title (Italian League) — the historic “Scudetto della Stella”, AC Milan’s tenth league title, which earned the club the right to wear a gold star on their shirt. De Vecchi scored a memorable brace in the Milan derby on 18 March 1979, netting twice in the final ten minutes and making a decisive contribution to the title win.


Coaching career at AC Milan
After ending his professional playing career, Walter De Vecchi has held various roles within the AC Milan Youth Sector.
- In 1994/95 he was the Head Coach of the U-17 team (Allievi Nazionali), winning the national youth championship
- In 1995/96 he was the Head Coach of the U-19 team (Primavera)
- In 2009 he was the Head Coach of the U-18 team (Berretti)
- In 2012 he was the Head Coach of the first AC Milan U-15 team (Giovanissimi Nazionali)
- In 2013 he was the Head Coach of the second AC Milan U-14 team (Giovanissimi Regionali B)
- In 2014 he was the Head Coach of the first AC Milan U-14 team (Giovanissimi Regionali A)
- In 2015/16 he was the Head Coach of the AC Milan U-16 team (Allievi Nazionali U-16), winning the Scirea Cup
- From 2016 to 2019 he was the Individual Development Coach of the AC Milan Youth Sector
- From 2019 to 2024 he was the Technical Coordinator of the AC Milan Youth Sector competitive teams (U-15 / U-16 / U-17 / U-18)
UEFA Pro Licence
De Vecchi holds the UEFA Pro licence, the highest coaching qualification in European football, required to manage teams at the top levels of national leagues and in UEFA competitions such as the Champions League and the Europa League.
